Aileen Dominguez – TRP Trails
My first TRP ride was definitely one of my awesome bike trips. Joining the tour groups of Beyond Outdoor Adventures (BOA) was an enjoyable experience. It was organized and well planned. Our guides briefed and explained the situation of the trails thoroughly and handled unpredictable situations well.
The 35+\- km ride was challenging to say the least. The trails have a great combination of technical uphills and rolling downhills. The ridge riding at White Mountain gave us a good view. The guides were helpful and very patient as we go through the ride. Since it was my first time to ride the trails of TRP, they assured me of what to expect and what type of preparation to do as we ride through each section. The sweepers are very friendly making jokes to keep my mind off my tired legs. For novice mountain bikers like me, the trails were mostly rideable except for one steep 2km technical uphill with loose rocks.
The San Jose and La Paz terrain is mostly rocky with very little shade. We were sun-drenched so hydration is definitely a key component. At least 1.5 liters of liquid is a must, but no need to worry since Allan and April brought some hydration for us. I highly recommend this to cross-country enthusiasts and admirers of mountainous scenery. Our hot lunch within the trails was beyond my expectations. Aside from the complete meal, we had chilled drinks and cold towels to sooth us through the warm weather. Sun skin protection is highly advisable.
